Opera Mini 6 dan Opera Mobile 11

Hari ini, (22 maret 2011) opera telah mengupdate 2 browsernya yakni, Opera Mini 6 dan Opera Mobile 11. Apa saja perbedaan dari versi sebelumnya? silakan disimak hasil copasan saya dari androsym.com ini. maaf dalam bahasa inggris, silakan ditranslate sendiri ya hehehe

The world’s favorite browser on phones, the mighty Opera Mini, just received a big fat update. This is because the bump in numbers is big – it went from 5 to 5.1 and then to 6 directly. So yeah, expect some cool goodies in there. Here’s our mini review, focussing on the changes that have been made.

Change log:

• The skin – the thing you’ll notice first is the skin – it’s gone from red to black. Good. But I rather think users should have been given the option to skin it with different colors, just like it was possible in Opera Mini 3.2.
• The Drop down menu – previously, it used to be in the center. Now, it has been moved to extreme left. While this doesn’t effect anything, it is a bit refreshing.
• The last part is new indeed. It has never existed in previous Opera Minis, if my memory serves me right. While there are different Opera Mini versions for different platforms, here, I’m covering the Symbian part exclusively, as I got to use this one. But rest assured, the same applies for all versions.

Share Option in Opera Mini 6..

You get to share it on Facebook and Twitter, apart from ‘My Opera’. What I also noticed is that it says ‘via Tweet Button’ on Twitter and ‘via Opera Mini’ on Facebook. I wonder why…

I also noticed some changes in the way pages were being rendered… Here’s the spoiler – the previous version of Opera Mini did it better, in my opinion. Also, zooming in using ’5′ number key is not always accurate.

Opera Mobile has also been updated to v11. And the big news there is – suppport for HTML 5! That is cool.

Send option in Opera Mobile..

The ‘Share’ option here is however renamed to ‘Send’. That is because you can send the URL of the page you are looking at via -

• SMS
• MMS
• Bluetooth
• Share it Online
• Email.

Out of the 5 options, the SMS and Email options didn’t work. Spoiler – you cannot share it directly on Facebook and Twitter unlike Opera Mini 6. Puzzles me really that why couldn’t these two be thrown in, too.

Apart from that, everything else remains same like on the Opera Mini 6.

Overall, it’s not such a big advantage over the previous versions, but yes, the ‘Share’ and ‘Send’ options, especially the ‘Share’ one is one good addition.
